Charlotte Moxon joined WMCAT’s Teen Arts + Tech Fashion Design studio her freshman year of high school — determined to create, even without prior experience or opportunities at her school. “At the time, I had never even touched a sewing machine. I had never made clothes before.”
With state-of-the-art tools and a supportive space, Charlotte dove in. Over four years, she gained creative confidence, explored sustainable sewing techniques, and found innovative approaches to design – helping her realize fashion was her future.
The culminating experience of Charlotte’s hard work was creating and presenting her final project for the Spring 2025 Fashion Show, Sublime Serenity, where she designed a gown from water-resistant materials that functioned as a raincoat. “My project went so well, and I loved it so much.”
“WMCAT just taught me so much. Even in that first semester, I had already began making, and I loved it.”
Today, Charlotte is attending the world-renowned Pratt Institute in New York City, studying Fashion Design and moving confidently toward a career in costume design.
