Rooted In Community

For Tim and Shoran Williams, their giving philosophy is rooted in community — and they see WMCAT’s mission as a mirror of their own life journeys. Both born and raised in the Midwest, their parents helped them navigate challenging environments with the help of community. “We have both witnessed and, in some instances, experienced the effect of policies and structures that limit opportunities and create gaps for working class families.”

“WMCAT doesn’t just make a difference. It is the difference.”

This lived experience shaped their commitment in creating equitable access to opportunity in their personal and professional lives. Through work in diversity, equity, and inclusion; healthcare and immigration legal advising; and community advocacy, they have become acutely aware of community needs.

“The impact of WMCAT’s programming on its students is transformational — a catalyst for life-long learning, growth and development.” With continued support of WMCAT, Tim and Shoran are meeting the moment by contributing to a thriving future for members of the community.

“Access to equitable opportunity [is needed] for many in our community and requires nimble and committed institutions like WMCAT. Our hope for WMCAT’s next 20 years is sustained and continued impact.”
