For Frank and Betsimar Bivins, searching for income stability while raising three children meant something had to change. Frank, worn down by a job that left him physically and emotionally drained, dreamed of entering the growing tech field. “I took like three months just diving deep into different sectors in cyber […] but it really wasn’t getting me anywhere.” Then, he discovered the tuition-free Cybersecurity Pathway at WMCAT. With holistic supports, personal and professional development, and a community of support he not only built skills for a future in the tech industry but found stability, now thriving as a Project Manager at Corewell Health.
“We are working very hard to be a really good example for our children. I just want them to be proud of us, and whatever the future holds, I think it’s going to be better than it was going to be before.” – Betsimar Bivins
Seeing his success and being a tech enthusiast herself, Betsimar enrolled in the next cybersecurity cohort, where she was able to learn from and meet industry leaders and find her own unique path in the tech industry. “The fact we get hands on experience […] it gives us an advantage over a lot of people. I’m just so grateful.” Today, both parents have graduated from WMCAT and are launching their careers while inspiring their kids. “[WMCAT] really has changed every single aspect of our family life.”
