WMCAT Award for Imagination

The WMCAT Award for Imagination will be presented to Urban Core Collective for their work to collaboratively and creatively reduce the effects of systemic racism by unifying and uplifting the voices of communities of color. They are changing the future of our community through their Transformational Leaders Program, designed to advance a pipeline of emerging Black and Latinx leaders.

WMCAT Award for Innovation

The WMCAT Award for Innovation will be presented to the West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in recognition of their forward-thinking, intuitive approach to advancing the Hispanic business community. They celebrate, advocate, and educate through innovative programs like Transformando, connecting resources and services to businesses; and Building Bridges Through Education, connecting Latino students to employers and talent development opportunities.

WMCAT Award for Inspiration
In honor of James C. Welch

The WMCAT Award for Inspiration will be presented to WMCAT alumnus Joshua A. Peoples in honor of the late Jim Welch, WMCAT’s founding board chair. Joshua, now a junior at Ferris State University studying Computer Information Systems, discovered his passion for the tech field while participating in WMCAT’s Teen Arts + Tech Program. We recognize Joshua for his creative spirit, inspirational leadership, commitment to community, and unrelenting pursuit to build a future that impacts the world through technology.
