Dr. Gilda Gely is executive vice president for academics at Davenport University. She served as a WMCAT board member from 2020-2023 and donates monthly to WMCAT as an opportunity curator.
A leader in higher education, Dr. Gilda Gely is dedicated to building learning spaces that prioritize access and opportunity.
“What matters most to me is creating pathways where none seem to exist,” says Gilda. She serves as executive vice president for academics and provost at Davenport University. “I’ve spent my career focused on removing barriers for students, particularly those who are first-generation or navigating complex systems without a clear map.”

When Gilda was introduced to WMCAT, she saw community impact in alignment with her vision for education. “WMCAT understands that talent is everywhere, even when opportunity is not,” she says. “I value learning spaces that extend beyond traditional classrooms — spaces that connect creativity, identity, and workforce readiness.” She was inspired to become a donor and join the board of directors.
“My experience at WMCAT, as both a board member and donor, has deepened my belief that education must meet people where they are and help them see what is possible.”
While her board service ended in 2023, Gilda continues to support WMCAT year-round as a monthly donor, extending her commitment to remove barriers for students by investing in tuition-free opportunities.

“Monthly giving feels like participating in something that is ongoing and evolving… There’s something meaningful about contributing to consistency, knowing that sustained investment is what allows organizations like WMCAT to plan, grow, and respond with intention.”
