The West Michigan Center for Arts + Technology is a community of learners, doers, thinkers, and compassionate leaders. Thank you to so many of you who are partners, friends and supporters of WMCAT and our students. It is with gratitude for that friendship, and an acknowledgement of the community we’ve built together, that I share the news of my departure from WMCAT for a new role in advancing equitable access to opportunity.
I will be transitioning from my work as the President and CEO of WMCAT to President and CEO of the Steelcase Foundation in February. The WMCAT Board of Directors is leading the search for my successor with careful attention to the culture and core work of this organization. You can learn more about their search here.
Over the last almost six years we have embarked on a journey to create pathways to opportunity for teens and adults. Together, we provided a space for young people to elevate their voices through art, and fostered a place where families can realize income security through a new, meaningful career. I assure you this work will continue.
The team at WMCAT is a force for justice. They are committed to equity, innovation and centering student voice. WMCAT’s staff of nonprofit professionals and teachers will continue to lead the way with innovative and impactful programming in arts engagement, workforce development and social enterprise initiatives. Please join me in continuing to support their work and the success of WMCAT’s students.
I remain committed to our collective calling to foster a more inclusive and prosperous community for all, and to engage in conversations that don’t shy away from complexity and discomfort. In my new role, I will continue to be your partner in building a more just and equitable West Michigan.
