Adult Programs

For under- and un-employed adults in West Michigan, WMCAT offers meaningful, high-value skills training for in-demand healthcare positions such as pharmacy technicians and medical coders.

Annually, WMCAT provides training to two dozen adults. Each intensive 36-week-long program includes 40 hours weekly in the classroom and 90 total hours of “hands on” externship experience.

Our advisory board includes leading regional healthcare employers: Metro Health, MMPC, Spectrum Health and St. Mary’s Health Care.

Students receive a grant to attend WMCAT; each adult demonstrates their commitment to the program by completing a multi-step registration process and taking full responsibility for their attendance and course completion.

Success Story

Bob came to WMCAT after 25 years experience as a factory worker. When his company relocated to Mexico, Bob was out of work and lacked the skills to begin a new career. When Bob began the pharmacy technician program, he knew he had found the right fit. “I never dreamed that I was capable of working in a professional healthcare environment,” explained Bob. “I am going my externship at St. Mary’s Hospital right now and plan to work here when I graduate from WMCAT.”
